Closing a Document Takes a Long Time When Using Multiple Add‑Ins

  • What happens: While using Contract Tools and other Word add‑ins, Word temporarily becomes unresponsive (freezes, hangs) when closing a document.

  • What this means: Most likely, another add‑in is causing Word to perform a time-consuming task with data that Contract Tools uses to sync defined terms, drafting errors, and other items with documents while there are unanalyzed changes. iManage Integration for Office, a Word add‑in distributed with some versions of iManage FileSite and DeskSite, can cause this behavior.

  • What you should do: If you use iManage Integration for Office, you may be able to resolve this issue by creating a Registry value; see Configuring iManage Software to learn more.

As an alternative, you can disable the add‑in that’s causing the issue; see Disabling Word Add‑ins to learn how. If you can’t disable the add‑in that’s causing the issue, choose Preferences from the pop‑up menu at the top of the Contract Tools pane to show the Preferences view, and then deselect “Sync while there are unanalyzed changes”. You may need to reopen Word after you do this. To learn how to reanalyze your document when there are unanalyzed changes, see Updating Contract Tools’ Analysis.
